Achieve breakthrough AI computing efficiency! Abbit and SiFive launch new generation of ultra-low power RISC-V MCU

Upbeat Technology unveiled the UP201/UP301 series microcontrollers (MCUs) at the 2025 RISC-V Summit this year in partnership with SiFive, Inc., a silicon intellectual property solution provider. It combines dual-core RISC-V and AI accelerators to achieve breakthrough computing efficiency, intelligence, and battery life.

Abit’s UP201 / UP301 series MCU integrates two SiFive Essential IP cores and two AI accelerators independently designed by Upbeat to support sustainable operation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, wearable devices, drones and edge AI inference applications. The low-power chip technology is based on its patented error detection and correction architecture (EDAC, Error Detection and Correction).

The Arbit series MCU combines near-threshold operation, EDAC toughness and SRAM innovative technology to achieve an unprecedented energy efficiency of 16.8 μW/MHz/DMIPS (Dhrystone). Compared with traditional ARM architecture microcontrollers, it provides a scalable design up to 400 MHz or 717 DMIPS and achieves the best balance between performance, efficiency and intelligence, making it ready for mass production of next-generation connected devices.

Xiao Furen, general manager of Lianteng Technology, said that from the chip startup to the mass production stage, Abit's UP201 / UP301 MCU has demonstrated excellent integration and stability. Its power consumption performance far exceeds expectations, and it has extremely low power consumption in sleep mode and maintains high performance during operation. The built-in AI accelerator and DSP can share inference and signal processing tasks, allowing Lianteng Technology to easily meet real-time application requirements.

Jack Kang, senior vice president of global business development, sales and customer experience at SiFive, said that as AI accelerates and moves to edge computing, power consumption efficiency has become the key to success. By using SiFive's Essential series RISC-V IP core, Abita has successfully created an extremely low-power MCU that can execute the high performance required for AI at the edge while extending battery life and energy efficiency.

Abit UP201 / UP301 MCU will be demonstrated on-site at the SiFive exhibition area, and the ultra-low-power MEMS bone conduction microphone (BCM) will be displayed simultaneously. Engineering samples and SDKs have been opened. The target application areas include full-time operation of IoT devices, wearable devices, drones/UAVs, smart audio, predictive maintenance and edge AI sensors.
