When the furniture is bought, waxing and applying primer will make the home look brand new and beautiful. So what little knowledge we must know?

Waining and brushing primer: Periodic application and maintenance are better

Solid wax is usually used to protect topcoats, sometimes used to decorate bare wood furniture. This method is best for completely polishing smooth dense hardwoods, such as maple.

Some waxes have added color and are specifically used for darker colors, such as walnut. These waxes can color the wood. If the topcoat applied to the wood is uneven, colored wax can cover up the defects. However, wax cannot color the wood or restore the topcoat. Solid wax is simple to apply, non-touch, and heat-resistant, but is easily damaged and easily wearable. It must be applied periodically. Solid waxes are more used in the coloring, closure of primer colorants, and the application of new or striped wood.

Primer colorants, including commercial ranges, are available in several colors. The primer colorant is uniform in color and will not cause overlapping traces or dark spots. Not only do they last, they are easy to apply. They are not very water resistant and must be reapplied periodically. But before you apply it, it is important to know the type of wood you apply.

How to apply solid wax

The wood you prepare for wax must be thoroughly polished before waxing and apply a layer of diluted insect paint as a primer. When the primer is completely dry, you can use 0000# steel wool to polish along the wood grain; then thoroughly clean the furniture with a dip cloth.

You can apply a thin layer of solid wax to the wood with a plush clean cloth pad. When waxing, apply a thin, even layer of wax by drawing circles. Wax only on a small scale at a time. Some manufacturers recommend using damp (rather than wet) cloth pads. If you use water, make sure that the surface of the furniture is dry before you polish it.

As the manufacturer recommends, you should let the wax dry completely. Then use a clean cloth to wipe the wax layer vigorously and wipe off the excess wax. When the wax layer is even, polish it with a clean cloth. Like above, apply two to three layers of wax to complete the surface coating. When you apply the next layer of wax, you should completely polish each of the previous layers.

How to apply primer colorant

Before applying primer colorant, you must properly prepare and polish the wood, without any other preparation. Mix the primer colorant evenly. Use a clean brush or cloth to apply the colorant evenly along the wood grain and let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes; then wipe off the excess with a clean cloth. Let the wood dry for 24 hours, then apply a second layer of colorant as above. To finish the finish, you will apply two to three layers of solid wax as you did on it. Then use a clean cloth to polish each layer of wax thoroughly.
