Reuters: Chinese companies are watching NVIDIA AI chip order progress, not paying attention to Beijing s resistance

Reuters quoted four people familiar with the purchase discussion, saying that despite Beijing's extreme resistance, Chinese technology companies such as Alibaba and ByteDance are still paying close attention to their order progress on NVIDIA (NVIDIA) artificial intelligence (AI) chips.
Two of the sources revealed that these companies hope to get guaranteed again, and that their NVIDIAH20 model orders are being processed, and are closely following the news about NVIDIA's plans to launch more powerful chip-related news called B30A. The B30A adopts a Blackwell architecture.
These two people pointed out that if B30A is approved for sale by the Chinese government, its sales price is estimated to be about twice that of H20. Each H20 chip is currently sold at $10,000 to $12,000 (about NT$368,000).
Sources added that Chinese technology businessmen believe that the potential pricing of B30A is still attractive; one of them pointed out that the computing power of B30A may reach up to six times that of H20.
These two chips are reduced-regulated chips designed by NVIDIA in order to comply with US export control regulations.
The Beijing authorities hope that China's science and technology industry will reduce its dependence on American chips. Sources revealed in August that the Chinese supervisory agency had summoned companies such as Tsuen and Tranquil and asked them to explain the H20 motors and express their concerns about safety.
However, so far, these companies have not received orders to ban NVIDIA products.
The four sources pointed out that despite the pressures of technology operators, the demand for NVIDIA chips in the Chinese market is still strong, as the production capacity of local competitors such as China and Cambrian is still limited. Another three people participating in the engineering business of China Technology Corporation also said that NVIDIA chip performance is better than local products.
Alibaba, the vocals and telepathy did not respond to Reuters' request for comment; Hua did not respond to Reuters' questions for Cambrian.
2 people familiar with the matter emphasized that NVIDIA executive chief Huang Rensha has guaranteed Chinese customers that H20 supply is unreliable and informed suppliers that market demand is continuing. Huang Rensha once estimated that for NVIDIA, the scale of China's AI market could reach US$50 billion.
