Darren Bent: Arteta did the right thing by cleaning up Guendouzi. I heard Guendouzi had a bad attitude
In an interview, former England international Darren Bent talked about Arteta's attitude towards former Arsenal player Guendouzi and his views on the current Arsenal team's prospects of competing for the championship.
How do you evaluate Arteta's cleaning up of the team's lineup when he first took over Arsenal, especially his handling of Guendouzi?
Arteta cleaned up Guendouzi, whose attitude was "stinky". As far as I know, that's a real problem. I'm obviously not making these rumors up, but this is what I heard, Guendouzi's attitude was bad. So he obviously had to leave.
Looking back now, Arteta's decision to eliminate those players who he believed would hinder the team's title challenge was undoubtedly the right decision. What do you think of Arsenal's title prospects this season?
I definitely think Arsenal can win the Premier League or Champions League this season. I think this is their moment. I look at the depth they have and finally, Arsenal now have two very good players in every position. We look strong.
Compared to the past few seasons, what do you think is the biggest difference between the current team?
In recent seasons, sometimes if players like Saliba, Saka and Odegaard get injured, the team will completely collapse. Now, all of a sudden, you look at this team and you start asking the question: "Can these (injured) players get back into the lineup?"
Arsenal haven't been in this situation for a long time, but they now have a squad that can compete on two fronts, not just one or the other. I think they can go far in the Champions League last year where they reached the semi-finals, and I really think they can win the Premier League this year.
