British media: Arsenal is optimistic about renewing Saliba and Saka at the same time
According to London Football Network, Arsenal is optimistic about the contract extension of Saliba and Saka at the same time. The club has started negotiations with several Gunners this summer and has successfully finalized the future of the three players.
Gabriel completed the contract renewal early in the transfer window, and is currently recovering from hamstring surgery. The Brazilian central defender has been partnering with Saliba in the past three seasons, and the two have formed a tacit understanding. When asked if he would renew his contract like a defensive partner, Saliba responded: "Yes, I hope so. Of course there is no conclusion yet, but my agent has maintained good communication with the club, so let's wait and see."
Skelly and Envanelli have also completed the contract renewal. Although the latter has not been officially announced yet, the London Football Network learned that the 18-year-old star has signed a five-year new contract, and both young players have entered the first team sequence, representing the club's future.
Since joining Arsenal in March, Berta has also shouldered the dual responsibilities of formulating a summer recruitment strategy and renewal negotiations. The Italian worked together with football operations director James King and general manager Richard Garrick, and initial work achieved remarkable results. The club not only successfully signed six new players, but in addition to the above three agreements, it is also full of confidence in the renewal of Saliba and Saka. The importance of locking in the future of these two core players is no less than any major signing.
Arteta revealed in May that he was in line with Berta's philosophy during the interview. All of the Italian's ideas revolve around taking the club to a new level, and his actual actions also confirm this position.
