The giant panda "walks his baby" again in Qinling Mountains, and the rare high-definition picture is here
Recently, staff from the Huayang Management and Protection Station of Changqing National Nature Reserve in Shaanxi found a group of high-definition images of two giant pandas moving in the same frame in the recycled infrared camera. After comparison and analysis, it was confirmed that this was a wild giant panda mother and son. The infrared camera video shows that this video was taken at around 19:00 on May 30, 2022. In the video, the giant panda mother walking in front came to a big tree. She sniffed it first, then started rubbing her head and neck against the trunk. Then she marked her territory by peeing under the tree, and then rubbed her back against the big tree for a while before walking forward. The giant panda baby behind
is eating while walking. Even if the mother is far away from her sight, it does not stop burying her head on "during the meal". The young giant panda does not seem to be interested in her mother's "words and deeds", but just sniffs around the big tree curiously.
According to the staff of the reserve, wild giant pandas are generally alone, and it is relatively rare for mothers and sons to walk together. According to the giant panda breeding season, this giant panda baby is about one year, seven or eight months old. At this time, it is in an important stage of learning survival skills with its mother. In the near future, it will leave its mother to live alone.
Changqing National Nature Reserve is located on the southern slope of the middle section of the Qinling Mountains. According to the fourth giant panda survey, there are 67 giant pandas in the reserve, accounting for 19.4% of the total number of giant pandas in the Qinling Mountains, and are one of the high-density distribution areas of the core population of Xinglongling in the Qinling Mountains.
