Dogs are color blind. Dogs can see colors within a certain range, but they see a much smaller range of colors than humans.

Currently, through scientists' experimental verification, dogs can see blue, yellow and gray. However, the recognition color of purple in their eyes is blue, the recognition color of red in their eyes is dark gray and black, and the recognition color of blue and green is gray. The three colors of orange, yellow and green are the visual blind spots of dogs, which are difficult for dogs to distinguish.

Dogs can see colors, but they do not only see black and white. The colors that dogs can see are not as diverse as humans, so they are not totally color blind. The retina of dogs has a large number of rod-shaped cells. These cells can distinguish gray as long as they have faint light. Therefore, researchers believe that dogs can distinguish gray that humans cannot distinguish, which is why dogs have better night vision than humans.
