Helpless act! A woman installs a child lock in the refrigerator and cabinet to prevent fat cats from eating
According to the British Metropolis Daily on September 14, Sara Matthews adopted the rescued cat Keith as a gift on his daughter's 10th birthday. What Sara did not expect was that after taking Keith home for a few months, she had to install a child lock on the refrigerator and cabinet to prevent Keith from stealing food. Despite her best efforts, including dieting and seeing a vet, Keith has increased from 11 pounds to 24 pounds over the past seven years, about the weight of a medium-sized dog.
"At the beginning, Keith would take advantage of the gaps in the refrigerator to find food. He was very smart and could find ways to open various cabinet doors and sliding doors. In order to prevent him from constantly eating and getting fat, I had to install child locks in both the refrigerator and the cabinet." Sara introduced, "Since Keith is a rescued cat, he has some health problems. Over the years, we have spent tens of thousands of pounds on him. For a while, Keit had to eat special food because he had urinary problems and the usual calories were high, I couldn't risk it. It eats special foods of 70 pounds (about RMB 622) per bag. It has been eating for 3 years, but Keith's weight has been increasing. In 2020, we paid Keit 2,500 pounds (about RMB 22,218) for blood tests for Cushing's disease, diabetes, etc., but the results are all negative. We are also preparing to give it a more comprehensive examination to see if there is any problem with the pituitary gland."
Although Sara only feeds it 50 grams of food every day for Keith's health, it cannot prevent Keith from stealing food from other cats. "I bought a microchip feeder for my other cats. Only cats wearing specific collars can eat food, but Keith is so smart that he thought of several ways to eat food from other cats!" Sara believes that although Keith is more than twice as big as a standard adult cat, his size has not stopped him from becoming happy and active. He is even more energetic than several other pet cats in the family, and he has no health problems at the moment.
